Chromat, a fashion brand blurring the lines between fashion and technology, recently decided to make some rules for any and all pool-goers. Okay, that sounds ridiculous, right? They're not lifeguards; they can't tell you what to do! We'd probably think that too if we didn't know Chromat is all for body positivity and being nonjudgmental. Check out their pool rules below.
It's clear from the list of rules posted that Chromat isn't policing anybody--and that's the point. We live in a culture where people think they need to cover up their flaws, whether that means scars, stretchmarks, cellulite, or even amputations. However, we need to be doing quite the opposite: Embrace your "flaws" because they make you who you are.
Unfortunately, embracing flaws is more easily said than done. There is not one perfect person in the world, but with technology, anyone can distort a photo to make themselves look like the ideal human being. Because of that, people think perfect specimens really do exist, and that they themselves need to cover up or change their body to look more ideal. It's no wonder loving our imperfections is hard--when no one else is doing it, we look like the oddballs out.
Hopefully, the Chromat Pool Rules can make a difference. As a unique fashion label and major influencer, more people will see they don't need to judge others or themselves based on perceived flaws. If more companies like Chromat supported and represented empowering people, they might just feel a little empowered themselves. Read Chromat's Pool Rules article here.
